La Lettre Features “Fearless Genius” Project

For constant inspiration, education, and exposure to the unexpected please visit the vast photographic universe that is La Lettre de la Photographie. The range of material they present is incredible, eclectic and global. I know of no other source quite like this. We all get locked up sometimes in our own private hell of work. We know we should go out and see the shows. When we do, our world brightens a bit, we get ideas, we get energized. La Lettre is like that, but via the internet. Cé tout.

So I was honored to see my long-term project about Steve Jobs and the development of new technology in Silicon Valley during the digital revolution in the 80′s and 90′s featured on La Lettre. I must thank Jean-Jacques Naudet and Gilles Descamps for the lovely presentation. Gradually the project is progressing, with a lot of new scans, plus getting some interviews done for my film and book. But seeing it here makes it a bit more real after all this time working on it. Have a look if you get a moment:

TED X SAN FRANCISCO TALK

Several friends and family have asked so finally for those interested here’s a link to my recent talk I gave at the amazing TEDX San Francisco on my upcoming project “FEARLESS GENIUS.”

http://www.menuez.com/data/web/1-

FEARLESS GENIUS is a film and book documenting the leading innovators in Silicon Valley during the 1980′s and 1990′s. The work began with a LIFE Magazine assignment from Picture Editor Peter Howe to cover Steve Jobs building the NeXT computer and continued for 15 years, ending with the collapse of the dot com era. Now housed at Stanford Library, it is being edited by Karen Mullarkey, former picture editor of Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, Rolling Stone, and with Brian Storm of MediaStorm who is producing the feature length documentary film and multimedia piece. We are launching a new non-profit for education, Backlight Media Group, to make this project a catalyst and inspiration for the next generation of engineers.

I’m especially grateful to the organizers for having me join such an esteemed group of speakers, I was inspired and awed. You can see and learn more about TEDX here: TEDxSF

FG cvr_sun micro_small

Please join me at CPW for a presentation about my new book and documentary film in progress: “Fearless Genius.” The project covers the explosion of new technology in Silicon Valley in the 1980′s and 1990′s, from the digital revolution through the rise of the internet. I was in the right place and lucky enough to get access to the key innovators of the era, such as Steve Jobs and many others and spent 15 years inside the leading companies. The work explores the human side of technology development; the manic passion, struggles, and joys of the silicon dream, as well as the sacrifices made to create a whole new world.
